Every child deserves a remarkable summer! Don't leave your children at home for their summer vacation. It is going to be the same television shows and the same old computer. Children crave new impressions, feelings and friends like no one else. Summer camp for a child means athletic competitions, festivities, games and contests, new friends and more.
All those things are awaiting your child at the International Children's Summer Camp "Leader" for boys and girls ages 6 to 15 years old headed by a talented educator, volleyball trainer, teacher of Russian language and literature, former principal of one of the best schools in Southern Russia - Vladimir Bratishov.
Our residential summer camp located at the magnificent area, near the scenic Catskill Mountains in upstate New York (near East Branch town, in 13756 zip code). Our camp is equipped with swimming pool, athletic and playing fields, comfortable living quarters with rooms for 4 or 6 people. In addition our camp has it's own auditorium where all the performances and plays are taking place. We offer four delicious home-cooked meals a day. Every meal is cooked and served in our own Children's Restaurant.
The target group for which we created this camp for are all families from different states of USA, Canada and other countries that are looking to:
• Have their children improve Russian language or even to start to understand it;
• Have their children learn some order and discipline;
• Have their children being engaged in sports, dancing, theater plays and other exciting activities;
• Have their children being attended to by professional trainers and educators.
We are partners with American Foundation of Russian Language and Culture (AFRLC).
It is no secret that the second generation of immigrants from the former Soviet Union possesses poor Russian language skills and the third generation speaks Russian barely if at all.
American Foundation of Russian Language and Culture (AFRLC) has been established for the purposes of popularization and advancement of Russian language and literature among the children and adults in the United States.
Camp "Leader" started in 2005 and quickly gained popularity. The coming season of 2008 is going to be the fourth for us. This year our camp is going to host 70 children aged six to fifteen years old each week. Children that belong to different age groups have their own specific interests, and that is why we offer a wide variety of activities for all ages. We place our young guests into groups based on age which allows them to have more communication with their peers and ensures everybody spends quality time at the Camp "Leader". The list of activities that we offer is more than impressive: Wushu, yoga, ping-pong, body-building, soccer, volleyball, basketball, and also: sketch theater studio, modern dance lessons, guitar lessons, art studio.
However, the main thing is the educational aspect, which is carried out by professional teachers, trainers, and psychologists! (See "our staff of professionals").
One of the special aspects of our Camp "Leader" is that we help children to improve their Russian or even to start to understand it. This is a great advantage for our children in such a multicultural and competitive country as America, to know not only the English language, but also to understand and speak in Russian.
What is - children's summer Camp Leader?
"Leader" is a productive leisure during which it is possible to get new experiences (educational, intellectual, becoming a leader, creativity) which, certainly, is useful in a life.
"Leader" is "luxury of human dialogue": friendship with coevals, acquaintances with interesting people, and an opportunity to test how strong you are.
"Leader" is an opportunity to choose among various sports and creative activities. (See "our activities ")
"Leader" is traditions. The main thing is - respect other people. It makes children of the same age groups interact with each other and with adults. We work together to make our camper feel life we are a big family.
"Leader" means Showtime! Our kids and their teachers are having a talent show for their parents once a month and they practice for it all season long.
The Camp is open from June 29th to August 30th.
